This blog is intended to share current (in process 07) research on Southeastern Cobb County, GA, primarily on a boundary from the Chattahoochee river west along Akers Mill/ Spring Rd, and south on Atlanta Rd to Bolton - with primary focus on the communities of Vinings, Springhill, Oakdale, Gilmore, and St Johns.
A number of interviews, record searches, photographic evidence, historic papers, and site visitations (circa 1830 forward) are being compiled to define something curiously unique about this area - now almost lost.
This is not an attempt to rewrite regional history. However, there are gaps, puzzles, and mysteries to be explored, and to which the reader is invited to collaboratively assist in solving.
